How to get Twitter Followers who are Interested in your Products for Little Work and No Money.

I know, I know.  If it sounds too good to be true, it must be.  What I’m about to share with you isn’t the silver bullet to Social Media Marketing but it is a helpful trick that can help you get the attention of active twitter users who are interested in X.  You determine what the X is and make it as relevant or irrelevant to your product, store, business as you want.

Step 1:

Post quality, relevant content on your account once a week at very least.  If someone sees your account and it is “stale”, they aren’t likely to follow you.

Step 2:

a. Create an IFTTT account at (unless you already have one)

b. Link your Twitter account to your IFTTT account.

c. Create this recipe:

Step 3: Repeat step 2c for up to 1000 hashtags that are relevant to your business.

Here’s what’s happening and why it works:  You have a website that sells Pug related items.  Coffee cups, shirts, dog toys, paintings, etc.  Joe Potential Customer has a pug breed dog.  He shares with the world the pictures and stories about his adorable dog and uses #pug #puglife #dog.  The “Applet” that you created adds @JoePotentialCustomer to a list for you in twitter.  It doesn’t follow them, just adds them to a list.  Joe gets a notification on Twitter that @Pugstuff just added them to their list #Pug.  Joe clicks on your account to see who you are and why he’s on your list.  He sees your great content and a link to your store where you sell stuff related to the thing he loves; Pugs.

Joe buys a Pug Mug and you get some money all while spending nothing.

Here’s where it gets even better: Joe starts following you and you’re able to get your tweets in front of his eyes everyday so that he keeps coming back for more.

Now not every single person who you add to a list is going to go to your site or follow you but some will.  Not everyone who follows you or visits your site will buy but to a degree, online marketing is a numbers game and the more eyes you can get on your content and products, the more likely you are to make a sale.
